Features - Search

Use the Search Palette to find up to three words or phrases. These can be joined by ‘AND’; ‘OR’; ‘NOT’; ‘NOR’; ‘FOLLOW BY’; ‘PRECEDED BY’; ‘WITHIN’. You can also set the range to search by selecting any book or combination of books. The results are color coded. You can view the context of a verse in the lower field by control-clicking in the verse.

Comparative Search offers a unique look at different versions, even in different languages. You can search for two words or phrases joined by ‘AND’; ‘OR’; ‘NOT’, in two different versions. For example, you could search for the occurrences of 愛 in the Shinkaiyaku where it is _not_ translated ‘love’ in the ESV.

A-Bible offers the option of searching the Bible texts using ‘Regular Expressions’. This powerful coding enables you to perform searches from the simple to the very complex. The current regex used by A-Bible requires some modification to work with non-English texts but can still be used when properly understood. The simple expression in the palette on the left looks for occurrences of ‘lov’ that start a word and end in any number of any other letters, such as ‘e’, ‘es’, ‘ing’, ‘er’.
