Frequently Asked Questions

1. Why is it called A-Bible, instead of say... THE Bible?
A-Bible stands for 'Asia Bible'. Originally the software was designed for this area of the world. The focus has grown since then to include European languages but the name remains the same.

2. How do I report bugs or request features?

Please send mail to support so I can fix the bugs as soon as possible. I also appreciate feature requests, especially if it helps your study of the Bible and ministry

3. What other versions will be available?
The LXX is almost completed. The LXX is grammatically tagged and includes Strong's numbers. The Apocrypha is also almost ready for inclusion as an add-on once the LXX is completed. Two Spanish versions are in initial preparation as well as the German Bible. The Hebrew OT is also on the map.

4. Can I run A-Bible on Japanese System?
You can run A-Bible in English on a Japanese OS or in Japanese on an English OS. You can set the menus, dialogs and instructions to be in either Japanese or English regardless of the language of the OS.

5. What is the difference between the Kougoyaku 2008 and the Kougoyaku 1955?
The Kougoyaku 2008 is the officially supported version of the Japan Bible Society. They stand behind the integrity of the data. The Kougoyaku 1955 has become available because of copyright expiration. There are many minor differences between the two texts that include everything from punctuation to whole phrases. Also, the furigana included with the electronic data has not been verified by the Japan Bible Society.

6. What is the difference between A-Bible in the Mac app store, A-Bible at いのちのことば社 (Inochi no Kotobasha) and this website?

These are all the same application but bundled with different Bible versions. All add-ons work with any of these versions. If you purchased version 2.0 from Inochi no Kotobashya, then you should upgrade to version 3.5 of A-Bible.

7. Why can’t I paste into some versions of MS Word?

The problems with some versions of Word pasting mojibake instead of Japanese can be solved in at least two ways. You can use the 'Text Only' option of the clipboard icon at the end of the text block once you have pasted the text or you can use the 'Paste Special' Option in the 'Edit' Menu rather than the 'Paste' item before you paste the text.
